Hi all, think I posted on steam room a while ago, about people at work not understanding R.A!

Well I took all advise on board and found some ficghting power through it, Iv managed to get T.A meetings up and running again (teaching asssistant) but unfortunatly they held the first one when Im not there!! so I spoke to my deputy head ( who spoke to the head) explaining that I was upset as I wanted to explain about R.A to other T.A's, so now we have a meeting this thursday! (not holding my breath) Im happy but a little nervous! I want to be prepared so as advised by Doreen :) going to set out what I would like to say about R.A and how it effects me, but keep it short as to not loose them!! I will gather the most important bits then open it to questions or let them know not to be affraid to ask, wish me luck :)

I will let you know how it go's!

thanks to all who adivsed me it gave me strength

love Corinne xx

Wishing you the very best of luck with this Corinne.
You are very brave but I'm sure it will help your colleagues understand what you are going through and how they can help you.

Good luck.
Love, Doreen xx

Hey Corinne,
Just wondering if u have some NRAS information leaflets as these would be good to hand out at the end?
Good luck with this i think its great u are doing this - im sure you will be fine - there's a lot of good advice on internet about doing presentations,
also visualisation techniques - picture yourself at the end, all finished :) :) :) - simple techniques but i find this really helpful,
will be thinking of u & sending lots & lots of positive thoughts,
with love from Liz xxxxx

what a good idea! I didnt think of that when I was teaching but it would have been a good plan!

I would keep it short, "guard dog attacking its owner" "it feels like you have flu" "it is progressive and you have to take cancer treatment drugs to treat it but prognosis is really good with support"

Love to you

Well done! That is wonderful.

My husband's work do charity collections occasionally and I have baked about 5,000 cakes for them. he has asked them if they'll support NRAS next time and they agreed!

Perhaps after the huge success of the talk (it will be!) you could suggest a cake sale for NRAS..

Love,

Amanda

Well done, Corinne - I`m sure you`ll give an excellent talk and hopefully it will educate a few more folks about what living with RA is like.

Hope it goes really well for you.

Take care,

Kathleen x

Hope all goes well. Just about to give my deputy head a copy of the ra booklet for employers as he's made a couple of inappropriate comments about my absence recently!

Thank you all for your kind words of support,

Well as I suspected the meeting was cancelled!! due to the head not being in, dont know why we could'nt have gone ahead with just the senco??

I got myself prepared and ready mentally, so I am dissapointed, but told the meeting will be held next week instead! I did feel like "what's the point" but I WILL have my time eventually, just gives me more time to prepare :)

Hi Liz

The meeting is suppose to be this thursday ! still not holding breath, it is frustrating, just want to do it then I will feel Iv done my best to explain, and hopefully wont feel like I have to justify everything I do/dont do! because of R.A

The senco has been a bit better (after leaving her a note) The headteacher has been off, so dont think he will have time as he will need to deal with other important issues! Im still not sure why he has to be presant for me to give my talk??

Will keep you informed, but I only have this week and till thursday next week, then it's easter hols, and im away for 3 weeks, going to the phillipines on hols with my husband, daughter, brother and sister-in-law (she is phillipino) can't wait for the break BigGrin

luv coz xx

Hi Coz,

Reading through your post I just wondered if you did manage to do you talk and how it went. I am thinking that it might be useful that I do one at my work place as none of them understand at all. It seems as though I look normal to them and therefore I should be able to do things and make a cup of tea but little do they know what make up and a smile can hide and how much pain we live with.

I would love to cover them in weights or tie limbs together to create a feeling of what we go through Laugh

I've often thought of that when going to see your Rheumy to let him know how we feel. Also hiting their joints with an iron bar in the middle of the night. It could be very useful to be able them to move into our bodies to feel how we feel. another thing I thought of was to inject thieves with RA into their hands for a week and if they reafended then do it permanantly. you probably relise that I'm fond of syfy. Also that I'm having a difficult few days this week. Glenys.

Laugh... and Hugs to you.
Pretty much there in pain with you this week myself.

Still think someone should make some casts and pieces so that we can attached to people, pads and spikes to put under the feet too hahaha
